About Us

Welcome to the Greensboro Jewish Federation! We are recognized as a leader of small Jewish communities in the US and Canada. Our Federation is distinguished by a high level of volunteer leadership commitment, creativity and innovation, and an annual campaign of over 1,100 annual contributors and raises over $1.5 million. Greensboro has a population of almost 280,000; the Jewish community numbers approximately 3,000, or 1,200 families.

The Greensboro Jewish Federation is the voice of our local Jewish community and for millions of Jews around the world. Giving care to those in need, giving deeper engagement in quality of life, and giving strength to the community, in Greensboro, Israel and around the world is at the heart of what we do. Since 1940, the Federation has funded programs that care for people at every stage of life - strengthening community, providing leadership, and nurturing the leaders of tomorrow.

Our Mission

Recognizing that each Jew is responsible, one for another, we promote the welfare of the Jewish people in our community, in Israel and worldwide.

Jewish Education

The Greensboro Jewish Federation recognizes the importance of providing strong Jewish education to our community's children.

Jewish Culture and Customs

The Greensboro Jewish Federation is proud to represent the Jewish people and the State of Israel when the community wants to learn more or explore community relations topics.

Cooperation and Community

We are proud of our affiliates and beneficiaries and the good that we accomplish by working together. The Greensboro Jewish Federation supports many programs locally, nationally, worldwide.

Provide Resources

Senior services, employment services, volunteer opportunities, scholarships and grants, food pantry, financial assistance-- we are here to provide the resources to those that are in need.

  • Get Involved

    The Federation serves the community is many ways, offering programming, networking, and social events; brokering community relations; advocating for Israel, and organizing city-wide religious observances and celebrations. Whatever your passion, there is an opportunity to get involved and become part of the Greensboro Jewish community.

  • Planned Giving Opportunities

    The Jewish Foundation of Greensboro offers many options to allow donors to show their support of and commitment to the Jewish people, including donor advised gifts, endowment funds and testamentary gifts. The Foundation also educates the community through the Create a Jewish Legacy initiative to develop bequests, endowments, and other planned gifts to create a meaningful, charitable legacy.

  • Provide Resources to Meet Local Needs

    Jewish Family Services (JFS), a constituent agency of the Greensboro Jewish Federation, is rooted in Jewish values and in the community’s obligation to support basic human needs and assist its members in the Jewish tradition of helping people to help themselves. JFS promotes positive social functioning of individuals and families and supports and strengthens Jewish family and community life.
