JEWISH VOICES FOR AN INCLUSIVE GREENSBORO

The Jewish Community Relations Committee builds and maintains strong relationships with our city's diverse set of communities in service of a common vision: an equitable, just and inclusive Greensboro. We rise collectively and as individuals to stand against bigotry and discrimination, learn about injustices - past and present - so we can confront them, and champion justice and human rights in our city and all over the world. We learn. We educate. We advocate. And we mobilize.

JCRC MISSION STATEMENT

The Jewish Community Relations Committee’s core mission is to address historic and persistent injustices including all forms of systemic discrimination and oppression such as antisemitism, racism, and poverty primarily in Greensboro, but also in the United States, Israel and beyond. Our Jewish values lead us to approach this work with a commitment to building cross-cultural relationships and promoting social justice. We do this work by:

  • Convening Members of the Jewish and Greater Greensboro Community

  • Listening and Learning

  • Confronting our History

  • Reflecting

  • Engaging in Informed Dialogue

  • Engaging Civically

  • Advocating and Taking Action

In March, 2023, JCRC hosted an educational program that highlighted the practical good that one of our beneficiaries is accomplishing in Israel.

Lee Gordon,Co-founder of Hand in Hand, shared with us how Hand in Hand has created a network of integrated public schools serving Arab and Jewish children in Israel. A recording of the presentation is below:

REPORT AN ANTISEMETIC INCIDENT

Have you experienced or observed an incident of antisemitism, extremism, bias, bigotry or hate?

Greensboro Jewish Federation's JCRC has partnered with ADL to track and monitor incidents of antisemitism in the greater Greensboro area. Reporting these incidents allows us to better identify any trends and educate law enforcement partners, elected officials, and faith partners while advocating for stronger protections from incidents and crimes. Furthermore, reporting an incident empowers every member of our community to feel that what they are experiencing is not going to go unnoticed. Together we will track and combat these incidents as we learn about them.

To report an incident, contact Rabbi Eliezer Sneiderman, Director of Jewish Community Relations (336) 852-5433 x244 at esneiderman@shalomgreensboro.org or fill out this form on ADLU's website and the Greensboro Jewish Federation’s JCRC will be notified. Any personal information provided will be kept strictly confidential.

We are in this together as a Jewish community, and we want to ensure that no one has to face these issues alone.

JCRC IN ACTION:

  • The JCRC of the Greensboro Jewish Federation would like to thank Dr. Nido Qubein, the High Point University President, for his strong response to an antisemitic incident that happened on campus. Out of all the recent incidents nationwide, this is one of the strongest responses. May we all learn from Dr. Qubein. This is an example of a masterclass in allyship.
