Jewish Family Services serves people in need—all kinds of need. From mental health services to support for seniors to family safety net services to helping employ those with barriers to employment, Jewish Family Services is there to help people at all stages of life overcome difficult challenges to live fuller, more meaningful lives. We provide services to all ages of life- from family programming to senior services.
The people served by Jewish Family Services are as diverse and varied as the Greensboro community. Our social services are available to all, regardless of age, race, faith, sexual orientation, or economic status. Life’s challenges don’t discriminate—and neither do we.
The agency offers essential services for a lifetime of need. Our compassionate, highly skilled professional staff and caring volunteers are constantly innovating new services and refining existing programs to meet emerging community needs.

Caregiver Support Group
JFS, Temple Emanuel, and Beth David are now offering a monthly Caregiver support group for adult children of aging parents. Please join us on the second Thursday of the month at Temple Emanuel. Scholarship and Grant Opportunities
Jewish Family Services provides scholarship opportunities for students interested in attending overnight Jewish summer camp or peer trips to Israel. Periodically, financial assistance is granted to Jewish students to help them further their post-secondary education. The Rosalyn Saltz and Norman Seymour Pliner Scholarship Fund is committed to advancing Jewish women in leadership roles. Applicants must be residing in North or South Carolina.

Community Food Pantry
The Food Pantry is open to the entire Greensboro community. Individuals interested in using the food pantry will be referred to Beth Childs, clinical social worker for an initial assessment. Pantry hours are Tuesday 9:30 am-12:30 pm and Thursday, 12:30-2:30 pm. All visits much be scheduled in advance by calling 852-4829. Use of the pantry is limited to two times a month, every other week.

Employment Services
The JFS Employment Initiative services our community and Greensboro. JFS hosts a networking group, workshops throughout the year, maintains a job email listserve, and provides employment counseling. Jewish Family Services Van
Door-to-door van service for seniors and disabled riders to go to doctor appointments, social events, shopping, and religious services can be arranged by contacting Marcia Hermelin at mhermelin@shalomgreensboro.org or at 336-852-4829, ext. 222. Van service is $4 each way. Trips for religious services are always free.
