SENIOR SERVICES

Jewish Family Services offers a range of services for older adults and their families including counseling, case management, outreach, transportation services, groups addressing the needs of those in facilities, caregiver support, and information and referral. Services are provided in the home, office, and community settings.

Spending time with others is immensely rewarding and important for health and well-being. Jewish Family Services can connect individuals in our community to the Yiddish class, the Senior Choir, the ESL class for older adults from the Former Soviet Union and other senior activities in the community.

Clinical Services

A Clinical Social Worker is available for confidential counseling for older adults or caregivers in the office or in the home setting. We bill Medicare for counseling and offer sliding scale fees. Case management services are available at no charge. Contact 852-4829.

Caregivers work hard to provide care for their loved ones but often neglect their own needs or are not aware of resources that could assist them. Contact our social worker for information about our caregiver support group, educational programs, and other services.

Need a service? Or a resource? Are you worried about your elderly parent here in Greensboro or far away? Not sure where to turn to get the answer? Call JFS and we will assist you in getting what you need. Contact 852-4829.

Chai Notes: Connecting through Jewish Music and the Arts

Chai Notes works with older adults, their families, and individuals across the generations to connect to each other and to Jewish tradition. Led by Cantor Katy Claussen, the program reaches out to seniors residing in facilities and includes those with dimentia and also works in the community with active seniors. The program includes the Chai Notes Senior Choir which rehearses twice a month and performs in the community. If you would like to be involved or know someone who would enjoy these programs, contact Katy Claussen at 852-4829, ext. 228.

This program is funded in part by the BJH Foundation for Senior Services.

  • Visiting an older person in a facility to offer comfort and support.

  • Accessing resources in the community, for instance a free a mammogram, or other services.
